You remember the hit TV show from the '80's - Bird Dog & Plank?!! Me neither, so let's get after our core while streaming your favorite '80's TV show. If you were born in the '90's or 'Aughts (?) you should enjoy the history lesson of an old time TV show and appreciate strengthening your core all the same. Get in motion and make it a beautiful day! 2020 everybody! keeping up with some clips from yesteryear. Let's get to the core of it. Inspired by the folks at Functional Patterns we're using some momentum and making an extra effort keep that core cranking. Toe tapping that med ball over your head and rolling all the way through a squat, bottoms up as we progress our way to the end a workout with core medicine. Get in motion and make it a beautiful day! Hey everybody. Hip to the Bosu to help support a little side stride. Capture the core and hips one rep at a time. Get in motion and make it a beautiful day! If yer gonna ride - ride the core horse. Trying to go after some more core with a twist, literally - my legs around the band maintaining space between my knees. Ain't no party like a banded core party and a banded core party don't stop...until your tummy tells you. And it will. This should be the only thing you fight today. The space between your knees. May that be the only space around you today that creates a struggle. If you take some action today, even work up a sweat, that space between our ears will fill up with good stuff. Get in motion and make it a beautiful day!
It's a great attitude and work ethic whether you find yourself in Michigan or Minnesota or wherever...
We are going to do the "rowing" with kettle bells while keeping that core engaged in a boat or as some un-yoga types still refer to it, a V-Sit. I like using the kettle bells to maintain my forearm, wrist and grip strength. A lot of my clients spend some time throughout their day typing while seated, so guarding against the carpal tunnel syndrome like a New Jersey governor while also captivating their core tends to be a worthy cause. Coming close to the end of another Summer lacrosse season where my forearms get their work snapping my 6 foot defensive pole at crafty shorties trying to find space to put it in the back of the net. What I'm saying is being old and active takes some extra training AND is totally worth it. Get in motion and make it a beautiful day!
Wrist pain. I get it. I don't have it but some folks I train do.
To aid in their comfort but not let up on some foundation core, shoulder and back strength exercises we made a minor adjustment. We stabilize our forearm / elbow on a Rogue box or a bench. I have found that putting that attention on the forearm, not digging the elbow in, and keeping the shoulder above the elbow has been most beneficial. So, stable up and give those dumbbells a row with these Pirate Row Planks. Get in motion and make it a beautiful day!
The title may be a bit dramatic but the Dynamic Pushup is a worthy cause. Full engagement of the core throughout the process. Shoulder stabilization during the upswing and pointing those fingertips like a thunderbolt to the sky before rolling back through to the other side...break on through to the other...
Get in motion and make it a beautiful day - no matter what the weather has to say about it!
I have chosen to move this burpee debate along with the help of a Rogue sled. Love 'em or hate 'em on your end I enjoy the burpee but have come to like much more deconstructing the movements involved. In so doing one day the sled got in the way...
Get in motion and make it a beautiful day! While exploring the corners inspired by @VernonGriffith4 I found myself in a fly at the end of the extension of this core exercise. This is a learning process to bring the form into full control but the experiment worked. My clients have enjoyed using the initial extension exercise in their program. Keep learning! Keep creating! Get in motion and make it a beautiful day! |
